WILLIAM ROBLEJO
William Roblejo Introduces El Viento Ahead of New Album After The Waves
Cuban violinist William Roblejo continues an exciting new chapter with El Viento, a single connected to his forthcoming fourth album, After The Waves, due for release on 20 October.
The new project represents one of Roblejo’s most ambitious musical journeys to date. Created over more than three years, After The Waves brings together musicians and creative voices from Cuba, Iran, and Spain, connecting three countries and three continents through a shared musical vision.
At the centre of the project is Roblejo’s distinctive approach to the violin. Deeply rooted in Cuban musical traditions, his sound also remains open to contemporary ideas and international influences. El Viento arrives within this wider creative setting, introducing listeners to an album shaped by collaboration, cultural exchange, and a desire to explore music beyond geographical boundaries.
The album was masterminded by Mo Fini and produced by Mo Fini, William Roblejo, Christophe Rezai, Dayron Ortiz, and David Alvarez. Their different backgrounds contribute to the international identity of a record that has travelled back and forth across continents during its creation.
Roblejo brings considerable experience to the project. A graduate of Cuba’s prestigious Instituto Superior de Arte, he has worked as a performer, composer, collaborator, and educator. He was a founder of the contemporary music quartet Traza, a member of the Amadeo Roldán String Quartet, and performed with the group led by Cuban singer-songwriter David Torrens between 2007 and 2011. He currently serves as Head of the String Department at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory.
With El Viento and the upcoming After The Waves, William Roblejo continues to develop a violin voice that feels proudly Cuban while increasingly reaching across cultures and borders.
