Vital Virus Releases New Concept Album Oblivion

Vital Virus has unveiled its new concept album Oblivion, marking a powerful new chapter for the Swedish industrial and alt rock project. The album was released on streaming platforms on Friday, December 12, and is now available worldwide.

Oblivion is a nine track release that dives deep into the emotional aftermath of a broken, lost and confused heart. Across the album, Vital Virus balances intimate moments with explosive intensity, moving between vulnerable singing and full-throated screams. These vocals sit on top of a dense and abrasive sound built from highly distorted guitars, industrial textures, synths and unsettling sonic details, creating an atmosphere that feels both raw and immersive.

The project comes from Falkenberg, Sweden, and is driven entirely by founder Alexander Karlsson. Working independently from his studio, Karlsson handled the music and creative direction himself, guided by a strong sense of creative freedom. Following the debut album Violate All, which was released in September 2024, work on Oblivion began almost immediately. The album took roughly twelve months to complete, including the creation of the cover art and additional visuals connected to each track.

According to Karlsson, the process of creating Oblivion meant confronting difficult emotions and memories, using the album as a form of healing. That honesty is reflected throughout the record, which stands as the most personal and sincere statement Vital Virus has released so far.

With Oblivion, Vital Virus continues to refine its industrial metal and alt rock sound while delivering an emotionally charged concept album that feels intense, personal and uncompromising.
