Irrlicht EP by Trauma Glow: An Exciting Journey Through Nostalgia and Mystery

Vienna-based alternative rock band Trauma Glow has just released their new EP, entitled “Irrlicht”, this October 2024-powerfully fusing dissonant guitars deeply filled with emotional themes. Following the successful release of the single “ornaments” last month in September, “Irrlicht” builds upon the band’s signature sound that has combined elements from grunge, shoegaze, and breakgaze.

The EP is a sonical journey of nostalgia, trauma, and the eerie mysteries of modern life. The title “Irrlicht”, a term describing a deceptive ghostly light, epitomizes the general idea of the EP: elusive understanding. The music feels post-apocalyptic and mystical in nature-a really interesting combination of intensity and emotional depth. The composition, soothing and haunting moments, leads its listeners through ambivalent comforts and discomforts.

Recorded with Tobias Fortunites in Vienna and mixed and mastered by Zac Montez at Time Well Recordings in Chicago, “Irrlicht” finds Trauma Glow fully invested in immersive, experimental soundscapes. The EP is released courtesy of Candlepin Records in Boston and Pleasure Tapes in Portland, as the band prepares to embark on a European and US tours.
