Cumberland River Project unveils emotional folk single “It’s Still Going On”

When the Berlin Wall was dismantled in 1989, the Cold War was apparently over and the Iron Curtain was ripped apart. Like all others, Frank Renfordt had aspirations that John Lennon’s dream of a world in peace would become a reality. But today, with war in Ukraine and in the Middle East and a resurgent nationalism, dreams like these are disappearing.

Now available, “It’s Still Going On” by The Cumberland River Project is a lovely early Joan Baez- and Bob Dylan-esque folk dirge. Sung by Israeli Daniella Goldfine and supported by mellow Ukrainian guitarist Oleh Andrievski, this track presents a sadly and heart-breakingly apropos discourse on humanity’s continued wrestle with violence.

It’s no protest piece, though; it’s a lament — a real cry of voices of people who have to live with sirens and terror. It’s a minimal construction and plain performance that makes it unbelievably human and universal. “It’s Still Going On” is available everywhere now.
