The 351’s Drop Their First EP “No Replacement for Displacement” – Punk Revival from Quebec City

Quebec City’s own The 351’s blow the roof off the punk scene with their debut EP “No Replacement for Displacement”, an album that takes old-school punk and gives it a modern twist.

Formed in September 2023, this new band consists of three experienced musicians. On guitar and vocals is Kev “Alley Cat” Berrigan, on bass is Dom Rudester, and on drums is Martin Gagné. Together, they aim high to carry the classic punk and Oi sounds of bands like the Ramones and Sex Pistols into a new era.

In the lead track of the EP, “Mother Anarchy”, the dudes get back to basics. A raw, unapologetic anthem with heavy guitars, boom drums, and vocals that manage a great mix between grit and melody—this will be something for fans of Rancid or Social Distortion to sing along to. At two minutes and twenty seconds, “Mother Anarchy” is straightforward, driven by punchy riffs, gang vocals, and a rhythm that results in perfection as a crowd-pleaser.

Drawing strong emphasis on authenticity, the 351’s have kept away from an overly polished sound that may remind one of modern punk and instead opt for a raw and visceral one. Recorded with Renaud Rochette and mastered by Jim at Jimi Studios, “No Replacement for Displacement” has this warm, analog-like feeling of taking the listener back to the early days of punk. 

Having just released their debut EP, The 351’s are already planning ahead: they head back into the studio in December to work on a follow-up. Keep an eye out for this up-and-coming band as they continue to bring the spirit of classic punk back to life.
