Siren Section Returns With Immersive New Album Separation Team

Siren Section are preparing to release Separation Team, a new full-length album that marks their first major body of work in over eight years. Created over four years of writing and production, the record brings together post-punk, shoegaze, and glitch-driven electronics into a deeply immersive and emotionally focused listening experience.

Based in Los Angeles, Siren Section is the long-running duo of James Cumberland and John Dowling, who have been making music together for more than two decades. Their sound, which they often describe as glitchgaze, blends layered guitars, synths, and electronic rhythms into songs that feel dense yet melodic, disorienting but familiar.

Separation Team is designed as a concept album meant to be experienced as a whole, leaning into themes of vulnerability, emotional breakdown, and repair. Recent singles like Glass Cannon and Medicine offer a glimpse into the album’s hazy atmosphere and introspective tone. Separation Team is scheduled for release on February 6.
