SAINT KYRIAKI Bridges Detroit and Greece on “Wild Woman Greek Isles”

SAINT KYRIAKI continues to push beyond traditional genre boundaries with “Wild Woman Greek Isles,” a distinctive single released on August 27th, 2026. The track brings together spoken-word poetry, jungle-inspired electronic production and a strong sense of cultural connection, creating a release that feels both personal and adventurous.

SAINT KYRIAKI is the artistic identity of Katie Chonacas, a Greek-American multidisciplinary artist from Metro Detroit. Her background plays an important role in the project, with Detroit’s long musical history meeting her deep Greek roots through an unexpected international collaboration.

The story behind “Wild Woman Greek Isles” began during a quiet afternoon in Greece with her 96-year-old grandmother, Gia Gia. While watching the television show Your Face Sounds Familiar, SAINT KYRIAKI became inspired by a local performance and later discovered the work of Athens-based producer Starious online. She decided to reach out, sending him raw a cappella spoken-word recordings created in Detroit.

Starious then built an entirely new electronic production around those vocals. Within a week, the original poetry had been transformed into a high-energy track driven by syncopated jungle rhythms, atmospheric textures and a theatrical sense of movement.

What makes the collaboration particularly interesting is the way the production process reverses the usual songwriting approach. Instead of writing vocals around an existing instrumental, Starious treated SAINT KYRIAKI’s spoken delivery as the foundation and constructed the music around its natural rhythm and character.

“Wild Woman Greek Isles” ultimately becomes more than a meeting between spoken word and electronic music. It reflects SAINT KYRIAKI’s growing focus on collaboration, connecting Detroit with Athens while bringing together different generations, cultures and creative perspectives in one vivid release.
