ROMATTIC Turns Modern Romance Inside Out on Candy Smoking

ROMATTIC explores the darker side of modern relationships on “Candy Smoking,” a twisted love song built around obsession, social pressure and the fear of letting go.

Rather than presenting romance in a traditional way, the track questions how relationships can become a form of status and social acceptance. Its central character is deeply attached to a woman despite being warned by friends and family that she is using him. He recognizes the problem, yet the possibility of losing the relationship feels even harder to face.

The song was created by singer-songwriter Theodor Andreas Halmrast and producer Tommy Duong, whose different backgrounds in rock help shape ROMATTIC’s alt-pop and alt-rock identity. “Candy Smoking” also draws inspiration from “Pretty Fly” by The Offspring and “Dancing Dead” by Avenged Sevenfold.
