Robert McGinty – Reflections (2025)
British artist Robert McGinty came out with the album Reflections on February 14, 2025, This album came out after winning the debut award for his song Chanson ‘a La Lune. Reflections consists of classical music that has been put into a modernistic approach.
Inspired by Vivaldi, Haydn, and the more energetic compositions of Scott Joplin and Liberace, Reflections presents a strikingly holistic musical endeavor. The album contains everything from catchy, upbeat piano riffs to complex solos for Spanish guitar, flute, and strings. The piece Ragtime Special is particularly unique, capturing the spirit of McGinty’s sophisticated comedic style through fusion of detailed syncopation and a boisterous show finale.
With every new song, McGinty is able to combine old and new styles of music in a breathtaking new way. The ability to feel many different emotions, from happiness to soft sorrow, makes Reflections an attractive work for both connoisseurs of classical art and for its amateurs.
Working alone, McGinty was able to make an album that showcases the themes of a humanistic feeling, while also being relatable. It’s both through pieces like Ebbing Tides and The Whimsical Waltz that Reflections invites listeners to a fusion of technology and music.
Anyone who has an interest in classical music infused with a bit innovation and creative genius definitely deserves to listen to Reflections.
