Poems Release New Single “Placebo”
The new single placebos by Poems was released on the 18th of April, 2025 and marks their return to the music scene. The san diego indie rock band now resides in San diego, where they took the inspiration for the track from bands like Interpol, Hippocampus, The Wallows, The National. Known for their dynamic songwriting, emotional, and introspective, Poems have certainly solidified their reputation with “Placebo.”
Placebo, like all their other tracks, was recorded in San Diego. Acclaimed John Catlin had the pleasure of mixing their work. Known for his work with Inhaler, Catlin captured the raw emotions and anxious energy that define Poems’s style. To their growing dinamic sound, Billy Foster of Wet Leg and Fontaines D.C contributed to the production of one of the tracks on their upcoming EP, while grammy winning mastering engineer John Greenham provided the final polish.
“Placebo” deals with the adoration of medication and getting pills to cope with the metabolic challenges of life associated with adulting. The poem brings even more depth to the song and will continue to solidify the reputation of the bands for their powerful lyrics.
The band was birthed in early 2021 in Seattle. Philip Ernest, Grayson Hagopian, Zae Howell, Jeremy Smucker and Sammuel McCubbin formed the captivating blend of indie rock that united the guys.
Poems have already been gaining recognition by performing at places like The Belly Up Tavern, The Casbah, and the Music Box in California. Their earlier summer EP promises more authentic telling of tales focused on the transition to adulthood and the struggles that accompany it.
Their newest single ’Placebo’ depicts an all too common modern affliction while Poems envelop it in emotionally complex indie rock. Those fans who appreciate music that simultaneously invokes thought along with emotion would find this track unmissable.
