NOAM SHAPIRA
New Old Music” by Noam Shapira – an Entrancing Musical Ride
Noam Shapira is a skillful New York-based artist who represents his new album, “New Old Music,” which was released on December 27, 2024. A brilliant fusion of pop, rock, and classical influences within a jazzy framework, this album features Noam and other great performers: Guy Moscovish on piano, Oren Hardy on bass, and Alon Benjamini on drums. Having worked together for more than 15 years, the synergy of the trio is reflected in every note of this album.
“New Old Music” takes inspiration from Noam’s life experiences of immigrating from being an artist in Israel to life in New York. It started with the incredible dream of a tiger being encouraged to be who he was. A real turning point came as he channeled all those experiences into this collection of compositions for a deep audience.
It’s an album of joy in live collaboration, recorded in a relaxed session that favored spontaneity over elaboration in Tel Aviv. The organic energy of the recording process shines on the tracks, balancing intricacy with the air of effervescent, easy charm.
In support of these, Noam performs monthly at Café Ornithology in New York City, enabling the follow-up of this album live. “New Old Music” is just a statement of Noam Shapira’s mastery of the fusion between genres seamlessly and is an album both innovative and deeply personal.
