New Laconia Drops Emotional New Track “Coming Home”
Alternative music endeavor New Laconia has released its most introspective and evocative tune to date, “Coming Home.” With a track record of infusing progressive rock, pop culture, science fiction, and fantasy themes into emotionally charged sonic landscapes, New Laconia again provides rich, cinematic soundscapes – without uttering a word.
“Coming Home” is itself an instrument saying much. The story is of the Captain who returns home from his lost war and is lost in an endless universe, searching for purpose having lost everything. His journey leads him to Stardust, the mythical watering place on the edge of the universe — the symbolic new start among fellow wanderers. This is no science fiction; this is allegory for all who have been displaced, who cannot return home, but wish to have some place to start anew.
Founded by Alex Syniakov, New Laconia is characterized by its epic blend of narrative and song. Having their earlier singles — the cosmic “Stardust Bear Bazaar” and the mythologically inspired “The Fates” — since then been working on building their own universe for several years now, “Coming Home” is deeply personal. As the first song ever penned using the New Laconia name, it is the emotional origin point for the entire journey.
Even though the song was only released this week, its message already appears to be timeless. “Coming Home” is a poignant tribute to everyone who’s lost everything — and an uplifting anthem for everyone still looking for meaningfulness, belonging, and peace.
