MRMESSY releases emotionally charged EP “I Want to Make Her Happy”

Swiss musician MRMESSY is back with an emotive new EP, I Want to Make Her Happy, an album that walks a fine line between promise and doubt, fantasy and reality. And as the name of the EP suggests, the record is rooted in a deeply human desire—to make someone else happy—and the manner in which that desire is navigated within the rather substantial terrain of the world we inhabit right now.

Composed by MRMESSY’s Lukas Speissegger, the tracks are a lively but groove-oriented affair that marries melodic electronica with a naturalistic introspective quality. Although they’re energetic and floor-worthy, the music feels equally comfortable in more low-key situations, such as on a kitchen table—a reflection of its warm, contemplative nature.

One of the strongest aspects of this project is that it has a history. Some years ago MRMESSY lost nearly all of his oldest electronical works in a catastrophic hard disk crash. There remained only four ruined songs that lay untouched for several years. It took until 2013 before an ancient chest in the far corner of his Foodcorner Studio saw the light of day again and new sparks of creativity kicked in once more. The rescued tracks got remastered and surprisingly they sounded current—even futuristic.

MRMESSY keeps the tradition alive with I Want to Make Her Happy today, an initiative which is as musical as it is one of development and new artist vision. Emphasizing innovation and forward movement, MRMESSY welcomes curators and listeners along as he embarks on a journey that is just starting.
