Matthew Peter Gough unveils The Piano Field, a peaceful journey through nature

Matthew Peter Gough is set to release his new album The Piano Field on May 1, 2026, offering listeners a calm and immersive piano-led experience shaped by the natural beauty of the English countryside. Created, performed and produced entirely by the artist in his studio near Frinton-on-Sea, this release marks an important step forward in his musical path.

Known for his lullaby work under the BabyGoodnight project, Matthew Peter Gough explores a broader and more complete sound in The Piano Field. The album introduces subtle strings and orchestral textures while staying true to his core focus on simplicity and emotional clarity. His approach reflects a clear dedication to letting each note breathe, building atmosphere through restraint rather than intensity.

The Piano Field is inspired by a buttercup field close to his home, with each of the eleven tracks capturing a different aspect of that setting. Pieces like Buttercup Field, Gliding High and Clouds Roll By invite the listener to imagine vivid scenes, from flowers moving gently in the breeze to quiet moments of reflection under an open sky. Even small details from everyday life, such as raindrops on a window, shaped the creation of tracks like Pitter Patter.

Recording in the countryside allowed nature to play a constant role in the creative process. The result is a cohesive body of work that feels organic and thoughtful, where each composition contributes to a wider sense of place. The album aims to offer a sense of calm and balance, presenting music as a space to disconnect from daily pressure and reconnect with stillness.

With The Piano Field, Matthew Peter Gough delivers a refined and expressive collection that highlights his evolving artistry while staying grounded in beauty, simplicity and emotional depth.
