LEONARDO BARILARO
Moon Seeds” by Leonardo Barilaro and Tina Guo: A Cosmic Symphony
In a stunning blend of art, science, and space exploration, Leonardo Barilaro, aka The Space Pianist, presents “Moon Seeds,” a poignant new composition with Grammy-nominated cellist Tina Guo and accomplished composer Steve Mazzaro. This pioneering work premiered live from the International Space Station and whisks listeners on a star-swept journey through the cosmos to the creative mind.
But it was more than just a world premiere of music-the one that was streamed from Los Angeles, Abu Dhabi, Houston, Italy, and Malta. It featured interesting discussions on the synergy of science and art in ensuring that creativity plays an enhanced role in shaping the future of humanity among the stars. The composition, itself a creation inspired by the Moon trees of the Apollo era and Artemis, symbolizes life and growth even in a harsh environment.
“Composing and performing Moon Seeds with Leo has been an out-of-this-world experience,” says Tina Guo. “Streaming our music from Space is an inspiring mix of the arts, technology, and space exploration.”
Produced by Steve Mazzaro, this track combines Barilaro’s signature piano melodies with neo-classical cello lines from Guo and ambient soundscapes recorded aboard the ISS. The result is really out of this world. The music video for this track, directed by Joel Moody and supported by the Athena Foundation for the Arts, accompanies the ethereal qualities of the track with stunning visuals designed by Chiara Rovoletto.
“Moon Seeds” is now out on all major platforms, taking listeners on a journey of emotions from the stars into the soul. This cosmic masterpiece shows that art makes space exploration much more relatable, inclusive, and inspiring for everybody.
