LAUGHING CATS
Laughing Cats Blaze Up with “Love On Fire”
Indie pop group Laughing Cats turn up the heat with their new single “Love On Fire,” from their first album Funny Money. Out in stores this week from all major retailers, the song’s also making waves at dance floors and club play internationally.
From throbbing synths to sing-alongable, irresistibly infectious hooks, and sassy, bold vocals from Lauren Schiff, “Love On Fire” contains a high-energy level of excitement that Lady Gaga, Donna Summer, and LMFAO listeners can appreciate from the outset. Featuring production from Tony Fredianelli that provides a club-ready gloss, the song hits that sweet spot of retro feeling with pop pace to match.
Schiff, who wrote, directed, edited, and produced the video for under $5,000, constructed a kaleidoscopic visual accompaniment to the song. The video, which abounds in drama and fantasy, was a testament to the group’s DIY ethic and creative genius.
Love On Fire describes what it’s like to have a red-hot affair, Schiff continues. “We needed a song which was alive, which was unapologetic,” Schiff explains. “Pop with a punch, for today’s club floors,” Fredianelli concurs.
Following earlier efforts like “GYB” and “Jerk,” Laughing Cats launches Funny Money with confidence and style. Schiff, MFA from NYU, along with Fredianelli, a longtime member of Third Eye Blind, merge their art and rock influences into a new and unique sound.
Love On Fire is a blazing hot track, and it’s soon to take over your playlist.
