Lark Explores the Lasting Traces of an “Almost” in New Single “Residue”

San Diego singer-songwriter Lark releases her first major original single, “Residue,” today, September 1, introducing her intimate approach to emotionally detailed indie-pop songwriting.

Rather than telling the story of a traditional breakup, “Residue” explores the strange grief left behind by a connection that never fully became a relationship. Lark turns this difficult feeling into vivid images of perfume remaining in a room, bubble gum stuck to a shoe, and fingerprints lingering on foggy glass. These small details capture how memories and unanswered questions can stay long after someone has disappeared from your life.

Produced, mixed, and mastered by Nashville-based Abbey Loren, the track combines intimate, lyric-driven verses with atmospheric production that gradually grows alongside its emotional weight. Lark recorded her vocals at Track One Studio in San Marcos, California.

To celebrate the release, Lark has also planned an intimate performance at a local art gallery in Ocean Beach, San Diego.
