Jacqueline Kroft Welcomes Spring with ‘The First Blossoms’

With the addition of the single The First Blossoms, her newest cinematic neo-classical work that sparkles with the soft energy of spring’s initial awakening, Jacqueline Kroft continues to bloom. Kroft Released Arpeggios of Raindrops and has recently been diving deeper into the emotions associated with the changing seasons through her rich harmonic piano compositions.

Kroft explains how she wished to capture spring as a living character in her composition. “I wrote ‘The First Blossoms’ as though the first steps into spring are where there is this music developing under the ground from the sleeping fauna,” she says. The gentler melodies and textured overtones help evolve the piece with the quiet urgency of nature’s reawakening. It’s a work that makes the listener pause and feel the changes in the air and the soil.

Kroft spent more time digitally during the pandemic which fueled her interest in shifting towards physically palpable sound. She states, “I loved the overtones that the soundboard makes.” This describes her journey into a new, tactile, and resonant world of creativity.

The stunning heritage gardens in Oxfordshire are vivaciously captured in the related music video, which was filmed by cinematographer Pete Seaward, with Kroft ethereally styled in Redheart England gowns by Anne Marie Lepretre. The imagery compliments the music’s ethereal natures and its connection to the natural world.

As she gets ready to begin touring English cathedrals in Manchester on May 6, Kroft infuses the brilliance of her compositions in the places that resonate with their beauty. The First Blossoms is a new and striking addition to her continually expanding repertoire.
