Spine-Chilling Cinematic EP “Sleeping Angel” Welcomes Back IAN

Prodigious composer Ian Rae has dropped his new EP, Sleeping Angel, a highly personal and cinematic experience that continues his phenomenal rate of album-writing. It is his original album number 15 in a span less than four years, in addition to nine original singles — a phenomenal total of over 200 pieces produced since late 2021.

The tune’s title, Sleeping Angel, was inspired by Rae’s own pet dog Tallulah, who passed away in April of 2024. The grief from that loss runs through the track and is a fitting spiritual sequel to his previous album Goodbye Little Friend, which in September became his best-performing album ever with over 200,000 streams on Spotify.

Despite the fact that Rae’s discography is a genre-defying tour through pop, jazz, and trance, Sleeping Angel is cinematic in essence. Influenced by Joe Hisaishi’s scores and films by Studio Ghibli, the EP is nostalgic, introspective, and gives fans the score for their own silent memories. The songs by Rae had expectations created in his TikTok, Instagram, and Twitch streaming, as his present fanbase had a preview of the project.

True to character, Rae prefers not to discuss his music in words. “Let music be the judge” is his doctrine, and Sleeping Angel does just that.
