Hyper Cypress Drops New EP “Downtime” – A Synthwave Journey Back in Time

Synthwave artist Hyper Cypress, known for captivating music and artwork, has just released his newest EP entitled Downtime. Dropping on January 28, 2025, the mesmerizing collection takes fans on a vintage ride through sound while mixing in that classic synthwave with his own modern flair.

Downtime really lets loose the singular twist of Hyper Cypress as he draws from synthwave icons like Miami Nights 1984 and Waveshaper. This EP summons memories of that time in history when space travels and limitless options were right at the door. With its ethereal atmosphere, strong drum beats, and strong melodic anchors, Downtime plunges fans into retro-futurism on an 80s cassette culture.

Composed entirely at home using VSTs from Arturia and Babyaudio on Logic Pro X, creative direction for Hyper Cypress was one steeped in nostalgia. The artist would continuously play cassette tapes amidst his highly meticulously selected lighting, setting himself back to days when everything was about wonder and imagination. The result is rich, atmospheric, full-bodied music that echoes both old-school synthwave fans and newcomers alike.

For now, Downtime is the promising chapter in the musical journey of Hyper Cypress. Devoted to being true to himself and creative, his future in synthwave is bright. Fans of nostalgic, spacey sounds are going to love this release.
