Q: What motivated you to compose “Five and Dime”?
A: I wrote Five and Dime about my own relationship difficulties and striving for independence and self-discovery.
Q: Can you tell us the steps that led to its composition?
A: To me, song writing is something very personal. My lyrics mainly come from my own feelings, emotions as well as experiences.
Q: The tune exhibits bright pictures and sensory speech. Could you discuss why these elements are present in its writings?
A: I wanted to make this emotional landscape vivid for listeners. Therefore through employing sensory language and imagery, it was aimed at creating a visceral response, thus communicating with the intensity of the narrator’s feelings.
Q: In the song there is a catchy refrain that goes “Heading to the five and dime.” What does that phrase mean to you?
A: Heading to the five and dime symbolizes an escape from confinement in a relationship by the author who wants freedom. It means moving away from total dependence on someone else into being free.
Q: How do you want your listeners to understand or relate with Five And Dime?”
A: The intent behind this music is that it should encourage people discover more about one-self, grow independently & maintain private space while having companionships
Q: Why did you choose repetition as a stylistic device in this particular song?
A: Repetition reinforces some major themes like desire for escape by introducing another type of liberation of this narrator among other things. It brings speed into the story; plus accents on how important it is for him/her to be independent.
Q: What was your intention with this line “Oh you bring me back down”?
A: This opening line shows how deep one can go into his/her thoughts or self in relation with others outside themselves.
Q: How do you approach word choice in your songwriting?
A:I choose words which have poetry along with their meanings for listeners to see themselves in my lyrics. By using relatable language, I can appeal to as many people as possible.
Q: What is the significance of the imagery “Caught my stride but you follow me around”?
A: In this metaphor, there is an underlying tension between a person’s want to be free and her partner’s need to control her movements. It is animated and full of energy reflecting how one wants personal space within such relationships.
Q: With respect to your music career generally, what makes “Five and Dime” special?
A: Among other things, my exploration into themes such as independence, self-discovery and human relationships made me write Five and Dime. It gives more meaning to my body of work thereby enabling the listener understand the emotions that drive it.
Q: What are you trying to tell your audience through “Five and Dime”?
A: Finally, I hope “Five and Dime” would be able to give listeners comfort, courage and connection. My intention is to make it a piece of music that touches everyone’s heart regardless of whether someone is grappling with his own past or he want resonance in the music.
Q: What are your feelings about the positive response received by “Five and Dime” from fans and critics?
A: I am thankful beyond words for the outstanding response that has come with “Five and dime.” It is always refreshing to see how much my song have impacted on people’s lives, urging me on through my career to create more songs that strike a chord with humanity.
Q: Can you tell us anything about future plans or upcoming projects?
A: At present, I am working on new tunes as well as different ways of being creative. As such, I am excited about sharing what I do with others around the world and letting them listen into my music.
