FRED PAA JORD
Fred Paa Jord’s Pax Internationalis* – A Sonic Voyage
Fred Paa Jord are a Bergen-based instrumental collective. Their latest, Pax Internationalis, is another hypnagogic installment of deep venturing into the realms of atmosphere and genre-defying sound. Characterized by a minimalistic way of recording, having a penchant for old instrumental African and Asian music, once again, it’s mood and texture that stand at the core of this musical experience.
Following their debut album in 2023 and the Corals EP earlier in 2024, the album Pax Internationalis was recorded over some summer days in 2024 at Bergen Kjøtt and captures perfectly that organic, on-the-spot element inherent in this music. Guests include vocals by Arne Håkon Tjelle of Soft Ride/Bloody Beach, giving even more texture to their usually purely instrumental work.
From the cricket chirps, waves, and wind whispers, Pax Internationalis embarks on a times-and-places journey that smoothly melts cultures and decades together. The album wears the spirit of summer in Bergen; its airy, open recording sessions reflect moments of swimming, the scent of disposable grills, and the hum of city life.
Released on January 17th via 100% Silke, Pax Internationalis invites listeners into Fred Paa Jord’s evocative world, where music speaks louder than words. This album is certainly one to indulge in for anyone seeking something both meditative and adventurous.
