De/OS Releases “Rise I” – A Powerful Reflection on Human Resilience

On February 24, 2025, De/OS, also known as Taemin Kim, released a new single that a blended a variety of genres named Rise I. The composer notes that it derives a lot of inspiration from Maya Angelou’s poem Still I Rise, which quotes the essence of human perseverance.

A Story of Growth and Transformation

Taemin Kim formerly was not a musician but began his journey with self taught resilience. He discovered his father’s death to be difficult, which followed an internal journey of discovery through an abandoned piano. Taemin worked relentlessly pushing himself while crafting his own unique blend of stylings from classical legends like Bach and Beethoven and the organic sounds of nature. Even though he took on varied professions like engineers or an emergency doctor, his love for music always lingered deep down.

Minimalism with Deep Meaning

The synths and organ patches paired with my DAW other the Moog with my orchestral piece created a wash of sound steam over a pot of boiling water, effortless rise into nothingness, representing the power of the human spirit.

Jóhann Jóhannsson, Ólafur Arnalds, and Arvo Pärt are some of the artists who influenced this track as it offers a meditative and healing experience.
