Dante Shivers turns a moment from his past into a deeply personal reflection with his single “Changes,” a song whose story stretches from London to New York City and, finally, Thailand.

The song began after Shivers met a ballerina in London and walked her home one evening. Their conversation about travel, dreams and the difficulty of pursuing the lives we imagine stayed with him. Later that night, as she slept, Shivers looked at the moon through her window with her ballet shoes hanging nearby, an image that helped inspire the song.

Shivers finished writing “Changes” after returning to New York, but the track remained unreleased for nearly fifteen years. He eventually completed the recording in Thailand while traveling the world and rediscovering the direction he wanted his own life to take.
