Chris Quesnel Releases Acoustic Version of “Cherry Chapstick” 

On February 8, 2025, the Montreal-based singer-songwriter Chris Quesnel released an acoustic version of his song ‘Cherry Chapstick.’ This version is strikingly different from the produced single that was released in February as it is more personal. Seems like Chris isn’t shy to express his emotions. 

The “Cherry Chapstick (Acoustic)” single takes on a more vulnerable approach where the instrumentals are more intimate unlike the original single. The track was recorded in Chris’ home studio where he seems to operate best. Each guitar strum to the final mixing was all done by Chris. With this being a passion project, Chris was able to fully express his creativity. 

Similar to other artists such as Knox and Zach Hood, Chris uses a fresh outlook in telling complex stories of love and loss. The angry lyric relaying the stop and go of a not-so-perfect relationship seems to capture the struggle between moving forward and finally letting go. The worsaw is accompanied by Chris’ voice which causes the listener to ache but find the song relieving at the same time. 

For Chris, this release marks an important milestone in his artistic journey. The song in question proves his versatility in music, but that is not all it does. He further helps the listener step into his world by telling his story through an acoustic performance. In doing so, he lets go of the artistic mask.
