Carla Patullo Releases New Album “Nomadica”

Carla Patullo has released her newest album, Nomadica, a poignant and visionary effort that addresses love, loss, and healing in a dreamlike context. The album is very personal, having been inspired by the untimely death of her mother in a car accident some years back. In Nomadica, Patullo steps into an otherworldly realm of sound in which memory and music are intertwined, envisioning the gentle dialogue she never got to have with her mom.

The album boasts a virtual who’s who of guest performers, including renowned singer Martha Wainwright, GRAMMY® Award-winning Scorchio Quartet (Lorenza Ponce, Frederika Krier, Leah Coloff, and Martha Mooke), and vocal group Tonality under the leadership of Alexander Lloyd Blake. They help form lush sonic landscapes that swing from haunting to hopeful to uplifting.

Tracks such as Our Love Is and the title piece Nomadica set the tone with an emotional blend of grief and possibility, while Arrival features a striking solo from violinist Lorenza Ponce that captures the essence of first contact in this imagined world. Natural sounds of water and rain shape Undercurrent, paired with Leah Coloff’s stirring cello. Toward the end of the journey, Lightning and Fly Under shine as anthems of resilience and renewal. The latter, co-written with Martha Wainwright, resonates especially deeply as both artists have experienced the loss of their mothers.
