Sleepless by Bruno Tenório starts the NAUPENC era

The Brazilian artist Bruno Tenório has started a new stage in his career with the single “Sleepless,” a song from his debut album “NAUPENC.” The single was released on January 9th and represents a first look at a broader creative endeavor that blends music, rhythm, and concept-based world-building.

The single “Sleepless” is a first look at the new album “NAUPENC,” which represents a transition from musician to composer and producer. As a drummer from the age of 12, Bruno Tenório’s experience and passion for rhythm have influenced this new single, which blends his love of rhythm with a new style of predominantly electronic music. The song’s focus is rhythm, and repetition plays a key role in its emotional delivery.

The single “Sleepless” was first presented in a live setting in November, as object blue premiered the song as part of the MAKE-BELIEVE-13 residency on NTS Radio London. The song’s ability to be translated from a studio setting to a live setting was clear in its premiere as a part of this residency.

The mastering duties were taken care of by Beau Thomas, who has also worked on recent releases by Aphex Twin, including Cheetah, Collapse, and Blackbox Life Recorder 21f. He has put a finishing touch to a track that is well-balanced between detail, texture, and clarity.

“Sleepless” is part of a bigger rollout, leading up to the January 30th release of NAUPENC. As part of this, Tenório has also released an experimental film of the same name, developed with visual artist and graphic designer Raul Luna. Set in an alternate future, this film has Brazil as a nuclear power, and it takes the ideas of the album and presents them as a visual experience.

As an introductory part of this experience, Sleepless is a strong statement, suggesting the scope and ambition of NAUPENC as a whole.
