BRIGHT SHINING LIGHTS
Bright Shining Lights Release Cosmic Second LP “The Sun Is A Star”
New Jersey’s Bright Shining Lights have released their highly anticipated second full-length album, “The Sun Is A Star,” a lush and ambitious project that takes listeners on a dreamy journey through space, time, and human connection. Coming almost five years after their debut record, this sixteen-song concept album blends rock, cinematic soundscapes, and narrative storytelling into a single immersive experience.
Recorded in a basement in NJ, the production of “The Sun Is A Star” defies expectations, offering a polished, expansive sound influenced by Pink Floyd, Radiohead, The Cure, Arcade Fire, and film composer Hans Zimmer. Art C Gusmano and Rob Maru, the duo behind Bright Shining Lights, have drawn on their years of experience in the 90s Jersey band Wellcurbs to create a record that is as ambitious musically as it is thematically.
Each track on the album is carefully arranged to tell a story, inviting listeners to embark on their own personal journey. As Gusmano explains, the project began with the track “Go For Launch,” which inspired the overarching concept of a journey through space, exploring themes of isolation, purpose, and the desire to belong. The lyrics are straightforward, yet as the album progresses, deeper metaphors and themes emerge, allowing for a unique and evolving experience with every listen.
Rob Maru emphasizes the dedication behind the album, noting that projects like this require courage and persistence. The duo’s meticulous approach and passion for music and storytelling shine through in every note, making “The Sun Is A Star” a rare album that combines the feeling of a concept record with the cinematic scope of a film score.
Bright Shining Lights are inviting audiences to experience the full album, hoping to rekindle the joy of diving into a complete musical journey in a world dominated by singles. “The Sun Is A Star” is now out, ready to transport listeners on a cosmic voyage they won’t soon forget.
