Q: What inspired you to write “Blame Game”?
A: My own experiences with victim-blaming and sexual harassment, as well as the pervasive societal attitudes surrounding women’s bodies, were taken into account when I wrote this piece.
Q: The song addresses themes of victim-blaming and gender inequality. Can you tell us about your intention in tackling these issues?
A: I wanted my audience to understand that blaming victims is harmful. Furthermore, I wished to debunk myths about such beliefs by expressing my dissatisfaction.
Q: How did you approach writing the lyrics for “Blame Game”?
A: I created a poem that was real and could be related too.
Q: The song incorporates repetition and rhetorical questions. What effect did you hope to achieve with these linguistic devices?
A: Therefore, while repeating and asking rhetorical questions were used in order to encourage reflection on the negative effects of blaming victims of abuse or assault or even girls in general due to their gender; thus reinforcing that idea had an oral effect hence making it more involving.
Q: Can you walk us through the process of writing and recording “Blame Game”?
A: A lot of deep thinking went into it before penning anything down. While voicing out my feelings in songs like ‘Blame Game’, I made sure it was truthfully done since i wanted every bit of it in recorded form so that one can relate.
Q: The song uses vivid imagery and sensory language. How did you incorporate these elements to convey your message?
A: So descriptive words drawn from the scenes experienced by “I” put a human face on those experiences which includes facing up society’s baselines about rape calls for a graphic picture, this way making them more real for people listening at home or anywhere around them.
Q: What message do you hope listeners take away from “Blame Game” after listening to it?
A: It is my expectations therefore that audiences will be moved and ready to put a stop to this whole idea of blaming victims of such heinous acts in our society as rape, etc. In fact, my wish is that anyone who has ever experienced what I am talking about here will find solace in it.
Q: “Blame Game” has received widespread acclaim for its powerful message. How does it feel to see such a positive response to your work?
A: It is very satisfying and also very humbling to have people listen to “Blame Game”. The outpouring of love and support from fans has been incredible, and the album’s success helps drive me as an artist with a purpose.
Q: How do you see “Blame Game” fitting into your overall artistic vision and body of work?
A: What I wanted was for my music to be the voice of reason especially those songs that speak directly on societal issues like ‘Blame Game’. That’s why I consider this song as one among many that serve the purpose of empowering other women through art.
Q: What do you hope to achieve with your music moving forward, particularly in terms of addressing social issues like gender inequality?
A: Therefore, my upcoming songs shall be used as tools for fighting against social ills by fostering change amongst communities. As such, they will touch on sensitive topics about equality focusing on matters relating to sexuality.
Q: How do you hope “Blame Game” contributes to broader conversations about victim-blaming and gender inequality in society?
A: I hope that “Blame Game” will initiate important dialogue concerning victim-blaming and gender inequality, and encourage listeners to reflect on their own attitudes and conduct. I maintain that a more just society can be achieved by sensitizing the public to harmful stereotypes.
Q: What advice would you give to listeners who have been impacted by the themes addressed in “Blame Game”?
A: My advice is first of all, don’t think you are alone. Recognize your experiences as valid. Trustworthy friends, family members or professionals should be approached for support while against any inequality, never shy away from speaking up. Let’s join hands together in making the world safer and more inclusive for everyone.
Q: How do you hope listeners will continue the conversation sparked by “Blame Game” in their own communities and circles?
A: I hope that they will take this opportunity to increase awareness about gender violence especially with regard to victim blaming, discrimination and other issues coming out of it in their areas of residence so that through giving information, engaging actively and supporting organizations promoting gender justice a change can be realized. Every voice counts; every action counts!
