Art Pop Drops Cathartic New Single “Teenage Scum”

Austin’s Art Pop return with their new single “Teenage Scum,” released May 30, 2025. The Grossenbacher brothers Max and Miles wrote and recorded the song, a raw and emotional look into their forthcoming LP, “This Is Art Pop.”

Tracked in their parents’ house before Miles left for college, the song was completed through virtual teamwork, the brothers emailing stems to and from each other through Google Drive. Albeit physically separated, their artistic chemistry wasn’t, resulting in a self-recorded product that covers feelings of isolation, worry, and the universal struggle of staying true to oneself.

“Teenage Scum” boils down Art Pop’s wide-ranging influences — Radiohead to Car Seat Headrest — into something utterly personal and utterly universal. It’s a bold step forward for the Austin natives, and a thrilling preview of the album to come. Keep an eye on this act; they’re barely getting started.
