Alice Okada releases debut EP “Liquid, or Jungle?”

Alice Okada enters the spotlight with her debut EP “Liquid, or Jungle?”, which represents an exciting new chapter for the Portland, OR-based artist. “Liquid, or Jungle?” was out on January 22nd, 2026. Alice Okada invites listeners into her world of Intelligent Drum N’ Bass, which she only discovered about a year ago. Yet, Alice Okada’s debut EP “Liquid, or Jungle?” is full of confidence and poise.

Alice Okada’s journey into Intelligent Drum N’ Bass came from curiosity and exploration. Alice Okada credits her initial interest in drum breaks as the catalyst for her journey into Intelligent Drum N’ Bass. She learned how to manipulate breaks and shape them into what would become her sound. Alice Okada cites artists from the Drum N’ Bass genre such as Shy FX and Congo Natty as inspiration for her exploration into Intelligent Drum N’ Bass. She learned from their examples and branched out into her own style.

The recording of Liquid, or Jungle? was just as personal as the music itself. Each track was recorded in Alice’s bedroom, which she says is cozy and liberating. This allowed her to record from home, where she could take her time to perfect her sound. Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of her recording process is her use of Esketamine, which is legal and used to treat MDD. She says she listened intently to Drum N’ Bass tracks, took notes, and then came back to her own music with a newfound sense of perspective, allowing her to overcome any creative hurdles she faced in perfecting each track.

At its core, Liquid, or Jungle? is about trying something new and embracing the unknown. Alice says that her approach to her music is best summed up by her mantra: “Let’s try this.” With her EP, she invites listeners into her carefully crafted world of sound.
