BAD BUBBLE
Demure & Insular, a song by BAD BUBBLE is an existential burden, personal struggle and the inevitability of retreat. The song introspects from its first verse “I am indisposed of & still rambling on about all which…could ever be described as…” showing how deep in thought the narrator is.
The lyrics interweave references to being overwhelmed with “the integers and common denominators…of the past decade or those who which ill upon you.” This metaphorical language highlights that life is complex. Through such imagery, it is made clear that the narrator’s past weighs heavily on him/her while at the same time emphasizing entrapment within these accumulated experiences.
Towards the end of this track, lines like “I seem to be…described as impossible to get by with…or alone and dropped upon with the weight of the goddamn world” punctuate a raw admission. This line confesses about a very lonely existence and immense pressure emanating from external expectations within me.
The song takes on an even sadder tone with “Upon my shoulders and the pain is growing strong.. as I speak…and impossible to ever hope to reform..” After hearing this, we can only feel sorry for such a person who seems doomed because he/she cannot change his/her predicament.
“Pleasure to meet you I hope to one day see you again…but for now I must go right back to where I come from.” Rather than sounding defeated forever, this final line reveals only temporary withdrawal and suggests maybe that there are chances for revival or reconnection later in life.
BAD BUBBLE’s “Demure & Insular” encompasses much power and emotion in capturing personal struggles in life against human resilience.
