A: Definitely. The lyrics for “Judy” were inspired by the complexities of love and how it can sometimes be like a rollercoaster. It was written as a result of personal experiences and observations about relationships.
Q: How did you approach writing such poignant and emotionally charged lyrics?
A: Personal memories played an essential role in the composition of “Judy’s” lyrics. I sought to portray love in all its rawness and vulnerability, while at the same time revealing underlying ideas that would speak to many people.
Q: What do you feel is the purpose of repeating “Judy” throughout the song?
A: Repeating “Judy” emphasizes that this is a personal song. It is like addressing whom one loves directly, thus introducing an intimate touch into the words used.
Q: Can you explain some imagery in the song lyrics?
A: The line “Bend the rules and kiss the fools if it gets you high,” is an example of an imagery contained in the song’s text which shows ups and downs in love life graphically. My aim with such imagery was to create a desire or longing for something more than oneself.
Q: What did you hope listeners would feel when they heard this chorus?
A: Judy’s chorus has to capture raw emotion and vulnerability. It says Judy whatyou do tome hurts, overandover again, reminding me how much pain could occur from love.
Q: How does Sister Suzie’s saying add deeper meaning into your piece?
A: Sister Suzie contributes another layer of complexity to my lyrics. This highlights outside expectations placed on my character further illustrating his/her struggle with navigating through love affairs and relationships.
Q: What message do you want fans to get from these song lyrics?
A:I want them (fans) to feel exactly what I am saying in them (the lyrics) and to be comforted that they are not alone in their love lives. Ultimately, I would like the song to speak personally to them.
Q: How do you feel about the way “Judy” as a song is emotionally constructed through its lyrics?
A: The emotional impact of ‘Judy’ is built around its lyrics. They make the song so human by showing how love may result into both highs and lows that most people can understand.
Q: What does the line “Truly, I don’t think that it’s worth, your love is…” mean?
A: In this line, my character realizes at last and despite all her sufferings she feels her lover’s affection might really not be worth anything. It’s a moment when she turns inside herself while remaining honest amongst other emotions going on outside.
Q: What do you think about “a piece of the sky” and “giving cheek to fill the week and send it away?”
A: These phrases give a more contemplative tone to this song. They bring out a sense of longing for something greater than oneself but also highlight how changeable time or feelings can be.
Q: In what way do you connect with ‘Judy’ lyrically?
A: In writing the words of a song, I draw from my own experiences and feelings as the songwriter. “Judy” is another such song that imbibes this connection for me with its themes which are about love, desire; dependence.
Q: What was the most difficult part of writing the lyrics for “Judy”?
A: The hardest part was to express the multilayered emotions associated with love in a manner that would be truthful and natural. Many hours of soul-searching and exposure were involved but in the end I am glad of how it turned out.

A: On personal levels, I just have hopes that those who listen to Judy lyrics will understand themselves more deeply about what entails love. They too should know what others go through so as to comfort them at least.

A: My creative process often relies on my personal experiences, emotions and observation of life around me. With regards to ‘Judy’, past relationships held my mind captive for quite some time as I really had to dig deep into issues concerning love and longing.
