Sunny C Rebuilds “Star Ruler” With a Harder, More Focused Electronic Edge

Belgian independent electronic artist Sunny C brings new intensity to “Star Ruler (dry mix),” a substantially rebuilt and remastered version of a track that originally appeared on the album Alvida Odia.

Working across coldwave, EBM and dark electro, Sunny C creates music where rigid electronic rhythms meet melodic synth work and direct female vocals. “Star Ruler (dry mix)” captures that combination while pushing toward the harsher side of the artist’s sound. The new version features stronger vocals, harder percussion and a more focused production, bringing the track closer to Sunny C’s original vision.

At its center is a rolling EBM bassline that gives the song a constant sense of movement. Hard electronic percussion adds weight, while the melodic elements prevent the track from becoming purely aggressive. Instead, Sunny C builds an effective balance between tension and release, allowing the arrangement to feel forceful without losing its immediate character.

That contrast also gives “Star Ruler (dry mix)” an interesting dual identity. Its harder rhythms and darker atmosphere make it naturally suited to a dark-club setting, but the detail in the arrangement also rewards more concentrated listening. There is energy here, but there is also a clear sense of control behind it.

Following the release of Alvida Odia, Sunny C began revisiting selected material to bring both the production and vocal performances closer to their intended form. “Star Ruler (dry mix)” shows the strength of that approach, presenting an established track with greater impact, clarity and confidence while keeping its melodic core firmly intact.
