Fendahlene Revisit a Powerful Story with “Confusion”

Fendahlene return with “Confusion”, a refreshed version of a song that first appeared on their 2002 EP Toudchdown. This new recording gives the track a vibrant new identity, blending a bluesier sound with an energetic indie rock approach, highlighted by rich Hammond organ, driving rhythms and dynamic drumming from session musician Matt Roberts.

Lyrically, “Confusion” explores feelings of uncertainty, alienation and emotional exhaustion while reflecting the pressures that many people experience in today’s fast-moving world. Written by Sydney writer Clare Catt, the song also touches on the frustration of unrealised potential, capturing the moment when ambition and promise begin to feel overwhelming. Despite these challenging themes, the music remains uplifting, balancing bright acoustic guitars, urgent rhythms and expressive backing vocals from Rebecca Webster to create a sense of hope amid the chaos.

Made up of Paul Whiteley and Ashley Hurst, Fendahlene continue to draw from influences spanning classic rock, soul, punk and modern indie.
