Rusty Reid Showcases a Fresh Creative Direction with “Alchemist”

Rusty Reid continues the journey through his latest album Lone Stardust: Masterworks of Texas Songwriters with the release of “Alchemist,” the project’s second single. The track highlights another fascinating chapter in an album that pays tribute to songwriters connected to Texas while allowing Rusty to bring his own artistic identity to every performance.

Unlike the original material that has defined much of his career, Lone Stardust is a carefully curated collection of nineteen cover songs celebrating both legendary and lesser known Texas songwriters. The result is an ambitious project that balances faithful interpretations with bold new arrangements, all tied together by Rusty Reid’s unmistakable voice.

“Alchemist,” written by Zack Kibodeaux of the Texas band Blue Water Highway, stands out as the newest composition featured on the album. Rusty has described discovering the song during the album’s curation process and immediately recognizing its powerful combination of melody, lyrical depth and meaningful theme. Those qualities inspired him to create his own interpretation while respecting the strength of the original.

The single also marks an exciting international collaboration. Rusty once again teamed up with Mumbai based musician Rohit Bhusan, whose atmospheric production and rich instrumental textures give “Alchemist” a distinctive mood. Rusty contributes vocals alongside acoustic and electric guitars, while Bhusan handles keyboards, guitars, bass, drums and percussion, creating a beautifully layered sound that expands the emotional reach of the song.
