Satsuma shares debut EP Anodyne, a raw and personal statement

Satsuma, the solo project of Edinburgh multi instrumentalist Cam Halkerston, introduces Anodyne, a debut EP built on a fully independent and deeply personal approach. Written, performed and produced entirely by Halkerston, the release captures a guitar driven alt and indie rock sound shaped by a clear DIY mindset.

Anodyne stands out for its honest lyricism, where personal struggles and life changes are transformed into songs that aim to connect and offer emotional support. The project reflects a journey marked by major turning points, including leaving the Navy and navigating identity, relationships and mental health challenges. Much of the material was written and recorded in a short, intense period, adding to its direct and unfiltered tone.

Drawing inspiration from 90s alternative rock and artists who balance atmosphere with vulnerability, Satsuma delivers a cohesive debut that values authenticity over perfection, presenting a full band sound crafted entirely by one person.
