Seven Crows reveals their new immersive single Boreal

Los Angeles based violinist and music producer Chris Murphy is back with an exciting new release under his Seven Crows project. The new single Boreal is now out, continuing the artist’s adventurous journey to constantly push the creative possibilities of the electric violin.

Seven Crows is not just an artist name, but a living soundscape inspired by movement, memory, and transformation. Boreal is a perfect embodiment of this concept, demonstrating Murphy’s approach to music with precision and determination. The new single is based on a short 25-second electric violin loop, which evolves into a second layer, creating an immersive experience based on the power of random change, a concept popularized by Brian Eno.

“Boreal” is the third single from the upcoming album by Seven Crows titled “Powers of Observation,” which is set to be released in April 2026 via Teahouse Records. The album has been described as an electric wonderland of moods and sounds, and “Boreal” definitely falls within the range of such a description. The evolution of sound and the depth of atmosphere demonstrate Murphy’s capacity to produce depth with minimal elements.

The upcoming album is a 14-track project recorded in Portland, Oregon, with producer Gregg Williams. The entire spectrum of sound is derived from Murphy’s five-string electric violin and a range of pedals, which have been inspired by classical music, jazz, electronic music, world music, and experimental music. 

Following the success of his 2023 album “Secrets of Navigation,” Murphy continues to explore the potential of his violin to produce a range of sounds. Seven Crows once again takes the audience to a space where everything is in motion and nothing remains stationary for long in the song “Boreal.”
