DOZENZ
The song “Senseless” by DOZENZ is incredible and it captures how love can be both harsh and beautiful all the same. DOZENZ captures the whirlwind of emotions that come with being in a relationship while in a trance-like state. It makes one feel the suffocating feelings while being unsure of where the relationship is heading.
A different interpretation of the song could be that people can get captivated, and lost at the same time. DOZENZ explores the enigma of love and one’s emotions through the line “I don’t know what I’m feeling,” which perfectly sums the dilemma. This demonstrates how intense and addictive love can feel. It can be spellbinding and make one lose their train of thought, while simultaneously being deeply baffling. This notion makes DOZENZ’s work even more fascinating.
The line “It’s leaving me senseless” said multiple times underscores the troubling thoughts and feelings which can be quite overwhelming. The word “senseless” portrays that the artist has gone blank and completely detached from reason and logic. In this condition, the artist cannot make sense of their feelings, but they are unable to do anything about it. Clearly this love is a reality which has captured them deeply and the artist is going through a tremendous romantic conflict.
DOZENZ also shows another side whereby there is some sort of addiction to this relationship. The phrases “Addicted now, I need you more” highlights an addiction that has developed over time. The artist’s feelings have evolved from love to an Oh-so-dependable feeling and not being able to survive without the other. Such dependence can be beautiful but at the same time painful as it creates pressure. The artist is not merely looking forward to the relationship, rather has developed an almost unhealthy urge for the partner to stay, as without them the sky would fall on their heads.
The lyrics emphasize the notion of fate and destiny. In other words, DOZENZ appears to demonstrate a certain level of acceptance through love’s unpredictability by surrendering to fate as indicated in the line, “doing a dance with fate.” This explains why the narrator seems to be yearning for love when they express that “heartache’s worth the trouble.” The artist appears to be weary, but he is ready to pay the price if there is a chance to feel the love they are looking for.
In other words, “Senseless” epitomizes the myriad struggles accompanying the feeling of being in love: the utter loss of control added to the lack of sensibility. On the other hand, the feeling is equally compelling. Love has it’s paramount importance in life. DOZENZ candorously expresses the experience’s peaks and Valleys, along with the roller coaster nature of romantic feelings and it turns out they had actually built a song that could resonate with everyone who had ever fallen in love.
